RED CABBAGE 
1 head red cabbage
3/4 c. red wine
Juice of 1 1/2 lemon
1/4 c. sugar to taste
1/2 to 1 apple, depending on the size of the cabbage, thinly sliced

Shred cabbage finely. Add water just to cover. Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil, then let it simmer covered for 1 1/2 hours.
