1/2 c. shortening
1 egg (well beaten)
1/2 c. sour cream
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda (mix with sour cream)
1/2 c. dates
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Cream together the shortening, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sift together dry ingredients. Add sour cream and dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Add 1/2 cup of dates. Drop from teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.
