SWEET ROLLS 
2 tbsp. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. milk, scald & cool to lukewarm
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
5 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Mix milk, salt, sugar, shortening, egg and 2 cups flour. Then add dissolved yeast. Beat well, gradually adding 3 cups flour. Butter hands and knead the sticky dough, adding only enough flour to form a sticky ball of dough. Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down. Let rise and shape into rolls as desired. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes until browned. Yield: 2 dozen.
