CREAM - CHEESE MOLASSES CAKE | |
3/4 c. shortening 2/3 c. sugar 3 eggs 3/4 c. molasses 2 3/4 c. sifted flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. salt 1 c. milk Cream shortening well; add sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy. Then add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add molasses and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with milk, beating until smooth. Pour into 2 round 9 inch layer pans, 1 1/2 inch deep, greased and floured. Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Cool and frost. Frosting: Mash 3 ounce package cream cheese. Add 1 tablespoon warm water and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Then add gradually about 3 cups sifted confectioners' sugar, beating until spreading consistency. Frost cake. |
