VELVET CRUMB CAKE 
1 1/2 c. Bisquick baking mix
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water or milk
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
Topping (below)

Grease and flour square pan 8 x 8 x 2 or round 9 x 1 1/2 inch. Beat all ingredients except topping on low speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on medium speed for 4 minutes. Scraping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes on 350 degrees. Cool slightly and spread with topping.

TOPPING:

Mix: 1/3 c. brown sugar 1/4 c. chopped nuts 3 tbsp. or butter, softened 2 tbsp. milk

Set oven control to broil. Broil about 3 inches from about 3 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
