SWEET CUCUMBER PICKLES 
Wash and thinly slice about 4 quarts cucumbers. Pour fresh boiling water over them each morning for 3 days in succession.

Then make a syrup:

6 c. sugar
3 tbsp. salt
1/2 pkg. pickling spice
1 qt. vinegar
Alum size of pea

Bring syrup to a boil. Pour over cucumbers after draining off water. Each day for 3 days heat syrup to boil (drain off, heat, and pour over cucumbers). On last day place in jars. Pour hot syrup over cucumbers and seal. Put the pickling spice in a small cloth bag and heat in the syrup - remove when ready to put in jars.
