SALT WATER TAFFY 
2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. hot water
2 tbsp. butter

Combine sugar, salt, cornstarch and butter. Add corn syrup and water. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Boil to hard ball stage, 250 to 260 degrees. Pour onto buttered plates. Add flavorings and food coloring. Let stand until cool enough to handle. With buttered hands pull until light in color and stiff. Cut into bite sized pieces and wrap individually in waxed paper.
