STEAK WITH MUSHROOM GRAVY
Remove from steak (tenderloin or sirloin, 2 1/2 to 3 pounds) the gristle and string. Season on both sides with salt and pepper and place in hot deep fryer with just enough shortening to keep from sticking and fry quickly on both sides. Prepare 1 onion, sliced thin, 1 pod of garlic, and 1 bell pepper if available.

Remove steak from frying pan and place on platter. Then drop into the same pan the above onions and seasonings, which have been chopped, stirring constantly while frying. When thoroughly brown add 3 tablespoons of tomato catsup, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce and 1 can of mushrooms and a few sprigs of parsley chopped fine. Cook this gravy for about 3 minutes, add a small quantity of water and then pour over the steak on the platter and serve hot.
