1 c. mashed potatoes
1 c. boiling apple juice
1 c. dates, chopped
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
3 tbsp. cocoa
1/8 tsp. salt
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Pour boiling apple juice over dates; when cool, stir in baking soda. Set aside. Cream butter and sugar together. Add one egg at a time. Stir together flour, cocoa, and salt. Add to beaten mixture, add mashed potatoes and beat 3 minutes. Pour in pan and sprinkle walnuts and chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees in 9x13 inch pan.
