1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. cooking oil 2 lbs. med. shrimp 2 cans lump crab 2 c. green onions 2 c. yellow onions 1 1/2 tbsp. salt 1 c. parsley 2 c. celery 1 lg. can tomatoes 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper 1 tsp. thyme 1 bay leaf 3 tbsp. file 3 qts. water White rice as needed Cook shrimp in seasoned water, drain and peel. Cook flour and oil to make brown roux. Add onions and cook for 10 minutes. Add all ingredients except shrimp and file and cook for 2 hours on simmer. Add shrimp and cook for 30 minutes. Add file and pull from the heat. Serve over rice. |
