JAN'S 3 - LAYER PAN COOKIES 
LAYER 1 - OATMEAL CAKE:

3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 c. oats

Mix brown sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in oats. Press mixture into 9 x 13 inch pan.

LAYER 2 - CHOCOLATE CENTER:

12 oz. pkg. chocolate chips (set aside 1/4 c.)
14 oz. can Eagle Brand milk
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Heat chocolate chips, milk, butter and vanilla over low heat until the morsels melt. Stir in nuts. Pour over the oatmeal crust. Put in the refrigerator until the last step is done.

LAYER 3 - COOKIE TOP:

6 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/3 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. chocolate chips

Cream butter, sugars, eggs and vanilla. Add flour, baking soda and salt; mixing well. Stir in nuts. Pour over other layers in pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips.

Bake at 325 degrees for about 1 1/2 hours. (Check the top layer after 45 minutes, then every 10 minutes. If the top layer is done, the whole thing is done. Make sure the top layer is done. Otherwise, it will be very runny.)
