ITALIAN CREAM CAKE 
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
5 egg yolks
2 c. flour, plain
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 can coconut
1 c. chopped pecans
5 egg whites

Cream butter and shortening, add sugar and beat until smooth. Add egg yolks and beat well. Combine flour and soda and add the mixture alternately with buttermilk then stir in remaining ingredients. Bake in 3 (8" or 9") pans at 350 degrees until done.

FROSTING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/2 stick butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box confectionery sugar

Mix all together.
