APPLE CAKE 
4 c. thin-sliced apples
2 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
1/2 c. oil
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped (optional)

TOPPING:

1 1/2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. sugar
1 yolk of egg
3-4 tbsp. flour

Mix together liquid ingredients. Sift together dry ingredients and add slowly to liquid. Stir in apples until mixture is well blended.

Mix topping ingredients; sprinkle over top of cake mixture. Put into 9x13 greased and floured pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
