LINDA'S GERMAN APPLE CAKE 
2 lg. apples
3 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. cold water
1 c. flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening, add sugar and egg yolk well beaten, dry ingredients. Add water and vanilla, fold in egg whites. Sugar and cinnamon on top. Pare and core 2 good size apples, put them in dough. Sprinkle top with a little cinnamon and sugar. Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
