AUNT MARIE'S RUSSIAN DILL
PICKLES
 
Slice cucumbers lengthwise, put dill in bottom of jars, pack cucumbers in jars. Boil syrup and pour over cucumbers, a piece of alum the size of a pea may be added to each jar.

SYRUP:

4 tsp. mixed pickling spice
6 c. vinegar
6 c. sugar
6 c. water
1 c. salt

Boil for syrup for 5-6 quarts.
