ORANGE JELLO CAKE 
1 c. sugar
2 sticks butter
1 tbsp. vegetable shortening
2 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 c. milk
2 c. plain flour
1 pkg. orange Jello
1 orange, rind grated and juiced
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream butter, shortening, and sugar together. Add eggs and 1/3 of orange rind and juice. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add gelatin, beating all ingredients well. Pour into 2 (8 inch) greased and floured pans and bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes and then cool on cake wire racks.

ORANGE ICING:

1 box powdered sugar
2/3 remaining orange rind and juice
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 lb. soft butter or vegetable shortening

Beat well and spread onto the cooled layers. Refrigerate or store in a cool place.
