BAKED STEAK
1 (5-7 lb.) full cut round
1 (#303) can whole tomatoes
1 lg. onion, sliced thin
1 lg. bell pepper, sliced in rings
1 lg. or 2 sm. lemons, sliced thin
Worcestershire sauce
Salt & pepper

Salt and pepper both sides of the round steak and place in a large baking pan. Rub well with Worcestershire sauce. Arrange thinly sliced onion, bell pepper and lemon on the steak and pour the tomatoes over the top. Start the steak in a 400 degree oven for about 30 minutes. Baste often throughout the cooking. Lower the temperature to 300 degrees and continue to cook, basting often, for 5 to 7 hours or until tender. This is delicious, but since this is a less tender cut of meat, it requires slow and long cooking. If you do not have enough juice, mix 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup of ketchup with a couple of bouillon cubes. This may be cooked the day before and reheated.
