PUMPKIN BREAD 
2 2/3 cups sugar
2/3 cup butter or shortening
4 eggs
1 1-pound can pumpkin
2/3 cup orange juice, prune juice or water
3 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon all spice
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup dates or raisins
1 cup nuts - walnuts
Orange Peel - grated if you like

Cream together sugar, butter, or shortening and eggs. Add pumpkin and juice. In another bowl sift flour, baking powder, soda, salt, all spice and cinnamon together. Add to first mixture. Mix until blended. Add nuts and dates. Place in two greased loaf pans.

Bake in 350°F oven about 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until bread springs back to touch.

Makes 2 loaves.
