ORANGE DROP COOKIES 
2/3 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. orange juice
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar and egg thoroughly. Stir in orange juice and rind. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Stir dry ingredients together; blend in. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until delicately browned on edges. Makes 4 dozen 2 inch cookies. Frost with icing.

ORANGE BUTTER ICING:

2 1/2 tsp. soft butter
1 1/2 c. sifted confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 tbsp. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind

Blend butter and sugar together. Stir in orange juice and rind until smooth.
