NUT RING 
BATTER:

1 stick butter
1 egg
1/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. milk or water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 c. flour

FILLING:

8 oz. ground walnuts
1/3 c. sugar
Few drops almond
1 egg white (save yolk)
4-5 tbsp. water

For batter, mix all ingredients together and knead into a soft dough. If sticky, put in refrigerator for 20-30 minutes.

FILLING: Grind nuts and add all ingredients for filling. Now roll batter into a rectangle, 12x16 inches. Spread filling over batter and roll (long way). Roll onto a greased cookie sheet and form a ring. Make 1/2 inch cuts about 2 inches apart and brush with mixture of one egg yolk and one tablespoon of water. Top with walnut halves and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
