BEEF AND CHEDDAR MACARONI
CASSEROLE
 
1 lb. ground beef
1 lg. onion, chopped
2 tbsp. butter
1 jar (15 1/2 oz.) Ragu spaghetti sauce
1 pkg. (8 oz.) elbow macaroni, cooked and drained
1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese
1 can (4 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 tsp. basil
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. oregano
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large skillet, thoroughly brown beef; remove meat and set aside. In the same skillet, saute onion in butter until onion is translucent; drain fat. In a large bowl, combine beef, sauteed onion, spaghetti sauce, macaroni, 1 cup cheese, mushrooms, basil, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Spoon into an 11 x 7-inch baking dish. Bake, covered, 20 minutes or until bubbly. Evenly sprinkle with 1/2 cup cheese; bake 5 minutes or until cheese melts. Serves 4 to 6.
