BROWN EDGE COOKIES 
1/2 lb. real butter (2 sticks)
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 egg

Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and gradually add flour which has been sifted. Add vanilla and drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Dip bottom of a glass into cold water and press down on cookies to flatten them. Dip glass in water after pressing each cookie. Bake at 375 degrees until edges are brown.
