BROWN SUGAR POND CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. butter
1 lb. light brown sugar
1 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Beat butter and shortening, gradually add the sugars creaming until mixture is light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together dry ingredients and add alternately with milk and vanilla to the creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes.

WALNUT GLAZE:

1 c. sifted confectionery sugar
2 tbsp. butter
6 tbsp. cream
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Blend well.
