1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1 c. chopped nuts

FILLING:

1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 c. maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs

Set aside 2/3 cup cake mix. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom and sides of a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

In large bowl, combine remaining cake mix with butter and 1 egg. Mix well and press into prepared pan. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

FILLING: Mix 2/3 cup cake mix, brown sugar, syrup, vanilla, 3 eggs and chopped nuts. Pour over partially baked crust and continue baking for 30 to 35 minutes.
