PINEAPPLE SQUARES 
3 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 c. shortening

Sift dry ingredients, add shortening, work together. Break egg into milk (save 1 tablespoon for top), add milk to make soft dough. Divide in half.

Spread one half on cookie sheet, pour filling on top, spread the other half on top of filling (like a pie). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cut in squares while warm.

FILLING:

1 lg. can crushed pineapple
2/3 c. sugar
3 tbsp. cornstarch

Note: Roll the top half of "crust" between wax paper.
