HAMBURGER WITH CREOLE SAUCE
1 sm. onion, minced
1 sm. green pepper, minced
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. tomato paste
1 can (1 lb.) tomatoes
1 can (4 oz.) sliced mushrooms, undrained
1/2 tsp. crumbled thyme leaves
Salt and pepper, cayenne
2 tsp. lemon juice
2 lbs. ground beef
Sauce

Saute onion and green pepper in the butter in a saucepan over low heat, cook 5 minutes. Add next 3 ingredients, bring to boil and simmer, uncovered 10 minutes. Add thyme, salt and pepper to taste and add the lemon juice.

Shape the meat in 6 patties, handling as little as possible. Season with salt, pepper and cayenne. Broil to desired doneness. Serve with creole sauce. Makes 6 servings. I serve the sauce over rice or noodles. Sometime I add shrimp to the sauce, then I don't serve with hamburger.
