OLD FASHIONED SOUR CREAM COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 2/3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. commercial sour cream

Mix shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla thoroughly. Blend together dry ingredients. Add to sugar mixture alternately with sour cream. Chill dough. Divide dough. Roll out 1/4 inch thick on well floured surface. Cut shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes 4 dozen 2 inch cookies.

Can be frosted with butter frosting for sweeter taste.
