STRAWBERRY PRESERVES 
Cap 1 quart of berries, add 2 cups sugar. Bring to a boil. Add 2 more cups sugar, 2 teaspoons lemon juice, and boil briskly for 15 minutes. Stand until thoroughly cold. Seal cold. Cook one quart berries at a time. Before taking off stove, sprinkle a pinch of soda over the top. Let foam up and skim.
