FARMHOUSE TURNIPS 
3 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 sm. onion, minced
1 lb. turnips
1 med. tomato, peeled, seeded, and rough chopped
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tbsp. fresh chopped parsley

Peel and cut turnips into 2 inch by 1/2 inch strips. Melt butter, medium low heat; stir in onions. Cook 5 minutes, then add in turnip strips, tomato, sugar, and allspice; mix well. Cook, covered, (occasionally stirring) for 15 minutes or until tender. Add salt and pepper; sprinkle with parsley and serve. Stir up before serving. Serves 4.
