FRESH APPLE CAKE AND ICING 
3 1/2 c. diced apples
2 c. sugar
2 sticks melted butter
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix apples, sugar, and butter together. Let set for 10 minutes. Add 2 beaten eggs. Sift together flour, cinnamon, and baking soda. Combine apple and flour mixture and add 1 cup chopped nuts. Mix well. Bake in a greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

TOPPING:

1 stick butter
1 c. dark brown sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk

Melt butter and brown sugar together. Add evaporated milk. Bring to a hard boil; cool and add 1 teaspoon vanilla and pour over cake.
