BREAD PUDDING 
1 can sweetened condensed milk (1 1/3 c.)
2 c. hot water
2 c. finely diced bread or bread crumbs
3 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tbsp. butter, melted
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. raisins (if desired)

Pour combined milk and hot water over bread and let stand until lukewarm. Stir in eggs, butter, salt and vanilla. Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart casserole or baking dish.

Set casserole in a baking pan and put on rack in oven. Fill baking pan with hot water to a depth of 1 inch. Bake in moderate oven of 350 degrees until a knife blade inserted in center comes out clean, about an hour.
