OAT BREAD | |
5 1/2 to 6 c. flour 1 c. oatmeal (reg. or quick) 1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 3 pkgs. yeast 2 c. milk 1/4 c. butter 1 egg In large bowl, combine 2 cups flour, oatmeal, sugar, salt and yeast. Blend well. In small pan, heat milk and butter till very warm (120 to 130 degrees). Add to flour mixture. Add egg. Blend in mixer on low speed till moistened. Beat 3 minutes on medium speed. Stir in 3 1/2 to 4 cups flour. Knead either by hand or in mixer 6 to 8 minutes. Let rise in large bowl. Punch down and divide into 2 loaves. Bake in greased loaf pans at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Makes good dinner rolls, too. |
