APPLESAUCE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. applesauce
4 tsp. baking soda
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)

FROSTING:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. cream
Powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine ingredients for the cake in order. Place in 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour. Cool cake completely. Melt butter in saucepan and add brown sugar and cream. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and cool. Beat in vanilla and enough powdered sugar to thicken to spreadable consistency and frost the cake.
