PRIZE APPLESAUCE CAKE 
4 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. vegetable oil
2 c. sugar
3 c. unsweetened applesauce, heated
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Caramel Frosting

Sift together first 7 ingredients in large bowl. Combine sugar and oil, beat until blended well. Stir in hot applesauce, blending thoroughly. Add dry ingredients, blending well. Stir in raisins and nuts. Bake in two 9 x 9 x 2 inch pans or a Bundt pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes and 375 degrees for 15 more minutes or 30 minutes more for Bundt pan. Cool 5 minutes.

FROSTING:

Melt 1/2 cup butter, low heat. Stir in 1 cup brown sugar (packed), 1/4 teaspoon salt. Bring to boil over medium heat. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup milk, return to heat bring to full boil. Remove from heat, cool to lukewarm. Stir in 2 cups powdered sugar, beat well. If stiff add more milk.
