PATTY'S STEAMED CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES

These steamed chocolate chip cookies are best eaten fresh while the chocolate is still hot and melted nicely.

1/2 cup sugar
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter
1 egg
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda (optional)
1 cup finely chopped chocolate (or chocolate chips)

Mix sugar, butter and egg together in a mixing bowl.

Sift flour in a separate bowl and add in the baking powder and baking soda (if using).

Add the dry mixture into the wet mixture. Mix well. Finally add in the chocolate chips and stir.

TO STEAM:

Have the steamer ready with the water already boiling to speed up the process.

Place the cookie batter into the steamer tray and leave to cook for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Note: Do not constantly open the lid otherwise the water from the lid will get into the cookies and make them soggy!

After 20 minutes open the lid, but do it as quickly as possible so that water doesn't drip inside. To tell if they are ready to eat they should be firm yet soft to the touch.

Remove with a spatula and serve. Enjoy!
