OATMEAL BURLAP BREAD | |
5 to 5 1/2 c. unbleached flour 2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 c. regular oatmeal 1/3 c. wheat germ 1/2 c. 100% bran cereal 1 tbsp. salt 2 c. water, warm 1/2 c. molasses 2 tbsp. butter divided for greasing bowl and pans 2 (9 x 5 inch) loaf pans Combine 2 cups flour with all dry ingredients, except yeast. Mix well. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add to flour mixture. Blend at low speed with mixer until batter is moistened. Increase speed to medium for 3 minutes. Stir in remaining flour. Knead 5 minutes. Let rise in greased bowl in warm place for 1 hour. Punch down dough. Let rise in (2) 9 x 5 inch pans for 1 hour. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. May be frozen. |
