1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped dates with
1 c. boiling water and 1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips

Mix sugar, butter, shortening and eggs together. Add flour, cocoa, salt and vanilla. Stir in dates, mix well.

Pour into 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts on top. Bake at 350 degrees 25-30 minutes.
