1 c. cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
Jelly of your choice
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
2 more eggs, separated
Powdered sugar

Sift together cake flour, sugar, salt and baking powder. Add shortening, 2 whole eggs and vanilla; beat well. Then add the two yolks to batter and beat well. Beat the 2 egg whites until stiff and fold into the first mixture. Pour into greased shallow pan and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Turn out onto powdered sugar sprinkled wax paper. Spread with jelly and roll. You may ice with a powdered sugar and milk icing.
