1 c. butter 2 c. Imperial old time brown sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 4 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda 1 c. nuts Cream butter and sugar, add one whole egg, beat thoroughly, then add second egg. Add flavoring and gradually fold in flour, which has been sifted with salt, cream of tartar and soda. Add coarsely chopped nuts. Roll into two rolls about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper and place in ice box to chill (preferably overnight). Slice thin, bake in moderate oven. Pack in tins. They will keep indefinitely. |
