AMERICAN MAC AND CHEESE | |
1 pkg. large cooked elbow macaroni, drained 3 tbsp. butter 4 tbsp. flour 2 1/2 c. milk 1/4 c. minced onion 1/4 c. chopped pimento 1 tbsp. prepared mustard 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 3 c. grated cheddar or American cheese 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs In large saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour. Cook 2 minutes (do not brown). Add milk, onion, pimento, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; add cheese and macaroni. Pour into a 3 quart casserole. Top with bread crumbs. Beat at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Makes 4-6 servings. This is very good. |
