ICE BOX BUNS 
1 c. mashed potatoes (can be instant)
1 c. milk
1 cake compressed yeast
1 sm. c. sugar
Sm. 1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 egg, well beaten
Flour to make stiff dough

Soak yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Bring milk to boil; pour over potatoes. Add yeast, sugar, shortening, salt and egg. Add flour to make stiff dough. Refrigerate. Use dough as needed for buns or rolls.
