LENTIL SOUP 
2 (16 oz.) bags of lentils
Lg. ham bone with at least 2 c. diced ham
2 qts. cold water
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 bay leaves
2 stalks celery, diced
1 med. lg. onion, diced
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 garlic cloves
1/2 tsp. basil
1/2 c. molasses

Put everything in a large pot, bring to a boil. Then simmer for about 2 hours. Add water, depending on your desired thickness of soup.
