BASIC LAYER CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour (plain)
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
1 c. milk

PINEAPPLE FILLING:

1 lg. can crushed pineapple
1 c. sugar
1 egg for each layer
Pinch of salt
2 tsp. cornstarch
1 tsp. vanilla

Beat eggs with mixer until well blended. Mix all ingredients except vanilla in boiler. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Let cool. Make enough icing for three or four layers according to the number of eggs used.
