1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. nuts (if desired)
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tbsp. melted butter
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1/4 c. cocoa

Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa. Add milk, vanilla and melted butter. Mix until smooth. Add nuts. Pour into greased 8-inch square cake pan.

Mix brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa. Sprinkle over batter. Pour hot water over entire batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
