1 c. butter 1/2 c. (4 oz) cream cheese 1 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 1/2 c. flour food coloring for canned frosting cookie decorations as desired Cream together butter, cream cheese and sugar. Beat in egg yolk and vanilla. Add food coloring to portions of dough if desired. Gradually add flour, stirring well. Scoop dough onto waxed paper and press into disc. Wrap dough and chill at least 2 hours. (will remain fresh refrigerated for 2 days). Preheat oven to 300°F, form chilled dough into small balls (smaller than walnuts). Set balls 1 in. apart on ungreased cookie sheets and flatten with bottom of glass dipped in flour. Decorate as desired. Bake 18 - 24 min. edges should be brown, but not the bottoms. Cool before serving. |
