ORANGE SHORTBREADS | |
4 c. flour, sifted 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. brown sugar 1 tbsp. orange rind, grated 1 lb. butter Egg white Candied cherries Citron Mix flour, salt, sugar and orange rind. Cut in butter until crumbly. Work with hands until dough is smooth. Chill 30 minutes. Roll 1/2 inch thick between 2 sheets waxed paper. Cut with floured cutter. Brush with egg white. Cut candied cherries several times to form leaves of poinsettias on each cookie. Make stems with slivers of green citron. Put on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. |
