TOFFEE BARS 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. maple extract (opt.)
2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted after measuring
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 c. coarsely chopped walnuts or pecans
Dash of salt

Cream butter, sugar and flavorings thoroughly in large bowl of electric mixer. Add flour and salt, mix well. Stir in chocolate bits and nuts or spread in ungreased 15 x 10 inch pan. Bake in 325 degree oven for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. While warm, cut in 1 x 2 inch bars and cool in pan.
