BLACKBERRY CAKE 
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in buttermilk
2 c. blackberries, well drained (use juice in cake)
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and shortening; add well-beaten eggs, then flour that has been sifted with spices several times. Add buttermilk with soda and juice of blackberries. Fold in berries that are well drained. Makes 2 or 3 layer cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
