BLACKBERRY CAKE 
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. shortening
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in buttermilk
2 c. blackberries, well drained (use juice in cake)
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Drain blackberries. Cream sugar and shortening. Add well-beaten eggs. Sift flour, spices, and salt together. Add buttermilk with soda and juices from blackberries. Fold in berries that have been well drained. Makes 2 or 3 layer cake. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Frost with favorite icing.

Wow this recipe is great! My husband and my daughter loved it. I love it too! It is easy to make. But delicious! However, I took me longer to bake it. And it turned brown and crunchy onto the top but it turned so yummy!
