FRENCH FRIED ONION RINGS 
2 lg. Spanish onions

1. Slice 1/4 inch thick.

2. Place slices in dish of flour to dry them.

This is the secret to successful onion rings.

BATTER:

1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 c. milk
Shortening for frying

1. Combine flour, salt and baking powder, egg, oil and milk. Allow mixture to rest for 20 minutes.

2. Dip slices into batter.

3. Fry in hot shortening until golden brown.
